- ➤ Plainfield celebrated the opening of the new drive-thru Portillo's restaurant at 135th Street and Route 59 on Monday. Mayor John Argoudelis, the first customer, and Michael Portillo, who presented an $8,131 check to Bags of Hope, marked the ceremony that features double drive-thru lanes and an inside pickup area. - ➤ Will County Forest Preserve District announced it has purchased 40 acres on the west side of the DuPage River in Plainfield to fill a gap in the DuPage River Greenway — the move will support a future extension of the DuPage River Trail and strengthen land and river management as part of a $50 million capital plan for preservation. - ➤ The Illinois Department of Transportation said non-emergency road closures in Will County will be paused from 3 p.m. November 26 to 11:59 p.m. November 30, but key lane closures—such as on Lockport Street in Plainfield and several interstates—will remain, so drivers should plan extra time for delays.
