- ➤ The Valley View School District 365U Board of Education named Dr. Teresa Polson as its new superintendent effective July 1 — she will take over when Dr. Keith Wood retires at the end of this school year. Herald-News

- ➤ Jenny Dinelli from Braidwood is training at the Kankakee Sands Preserve for the Cocodona Sedona Canyons 125-mile race set to begin May 6—she will build up to 60 miles per week—aiming to be the first female from Illinois to finish the race. Herald-News
- ➤ Lockport star Bridget Ferriter was named Athlete of the Week—she earned 158 out of 319 votes and posted 19 kills and 2 blocks in the sectional championship win over Joliet West. She helped her team finish third in 4A and was named IVCA 4A First Team All-State. Herald-News
