- ➤ Two conservation programs by the Forest Preserve District of Will County were honored by the Chicago Wilderness Alliance on Oct. 22 at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago—one for a restoration project at Lockport Prairie Nature Preserve and one for a public Be A Trailblazer campaign. The awards recognized work with rare prairies and wetlands and engaged over 2,000 people with more than $10,000 in prizes. Herald-News

10 a.m.-1 p.m. — C.W. Avery Family YMCA — Free entry — Spread holiday cheer by donating unwrapped toys for children and enjoy festive activities with Santa.

9:00-10:30 a.m. — Community Park At Grande Park — Entry fee required — Participate in the fun-filled 4th Annual Turkey Trot run/walk to kick off the holiday season.

8 AM — Naperville Central High School — Registration required — Run fast and enjoy a festive Turkey Trot experience.
