- ➤ Will County forest preserves will host several family programs in October—such as an Eat a Bug Challenge, a Spooky Scavenger Hunt, Trick-or-Treat in the Woods, Rec Bike Club rides, a beekeeper meeting, and a seated yoga session—with online registration available on the event calendar. Events run from October 1 through October 31 and feature options for all ages. Herald-News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Plainfield School District 202 announced that 563 current students and recent graduates earned AP Scholar recognition after meeting the Advanced Placement exam standards during the 2024-25 school year—Plainfield North led with 189 honors. The district said that increasing AP course offerings from four in 2006 to 30 today has boosted the number of AP Scholars from 104 over 15 years. Herald-News

- ➤ State Sen. Michael E. Hastings introduced Senate Bill 2699 that would require insurance companies to send written notice of premium increases—auto policies must get 30 days and homeowners 60 days notice if rates rise over 10% so that consumers can plan ahead. Herald-News
