  • A Will County judge ruled that the first-degree murder case against Derrell Draper will continue in Elwood despite missing detective field notes — Judge Amy Bertani-Tomczak found no bad faith by prosecutors and barred Channahon Police Chief Adam Bogart from testifying about the notes while a hearing to decide on evidence suppression over a consent dispute will be held on October 21.  Herald-News
  • Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow explained on a recent podcast that his office spent two and a half years debating whether a sheriff’s lieutenant’s fatal shooting of Gregory Walker was negligent or reckless— a debate that ended with no charges, a $2.75 million settlement with Walker’s family, and the lieutenant’s firing.  Herald-News
