  • Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant said lower federal funding is impacting local programs, including two that helped save over 900 households from eviction, in her State of the County address on Aug. 21, 2025, and she proposed a balanced $791 million budget for 2026. The county continues growing with new business and housing—boosting job creation with 15,000 new positions since 2019.  Herald-News

  • The 2025 Plainfield Commercial Street Criterium Cycling Race will take place Saturday, Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. until about 7 p.m. — local police said downtown roads will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until around 6:30 p.m. to manage traffic during the event.  Herald-News
