- ➤ Residents of a Plainfield Township home were displaced by an attic fire that broke out at 5:23 a.m. Sunday on Hemingway Court — firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze as neighbors alerted residents, and the American Red Cross is now helping the displaced family while the cause remains under investigation. - ➤ TR Miller Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical in Plainfield completed its second annual pet food drive on July 31, collecting 12,000 pounds for three Will County shelters—NAWS of Mokena, A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter of Naperville and Wags 2 Wishes Animal Rescue in Plainfield. The drive raised 10 pounds of pet food per A/C tune-up to support over 1,000 cats and dogs and honors the legacy of the founders' late mother. Shaw Local

- ➤ A 19-year-old driver from Plainfield was cited Saturday at 10:10 a.m. in Joliet for failing to yield while making a left turn that caused his car to hit a semitrailer, which overturned and spilled a load of rock along Caton Farm and Ridge roads—his 12-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.
