Good morning, Plainfield.

The Silver Cross Foundation Board of Directors recently named two new members—Eileen Greenawalt from Frankfort and Scott Pickands from Mokena—to help guide its fundraising work for the hospital.

Greenawalt brings experience in business and nonprofit work while Pickands, an executive at Reed Construction, adds significant expertise from healthcare projects.

Oak Leaf Community Mortgage in Plainfield will mark its 10th anniversary on August 7 as it marks a decade of helping local families achieve homeownership and expand access to unique loan programs such as Buy Now, Sell Later; the firm partnered with North Shore Trust and Savings in late 2023 to strengthen its offerings. This milestone highlights its continued commitment to community-focused service.

The Will County Health Department’s Behavioral Health Division is hosting a back-to-school fair in Joliet on August 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the community room at 501 Ella Ave—families must pre-register to receive free school supplies and take advantage of local agency resources and CPR demonstrations by the Joliet Fire Department.

NASCAR will soon announce that the Cup and Xfinity series races will return to Joliet’s Chicagoland Speedway in 2026—likely as a one-year arrangement after Grant Park’s street race was moved.

The track will receive about $4 million in refurbishments, making it a cost-effective option compared to previous high-cost events.
