- ➤ AllenForce opened its new Veterans Wellness and Recreation Center on July 25 at 3581 Hennepin Drive in Joliet—offering free holistic programs like massage therapy, meditation and social events for veterans and their families. Local officials and state grant funding helped the nonprofit transition from sharing space at the Plainfield Township Community Center to owning its own facility. Herald-News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Plainfield residents will get letters this week from the U.S. Census Bureau with a unique 12-digit ID to complete a special online census form. The village ordered the census due to a 10% rise in population since 2020—those who do not respond by Aug. 22 will get in-person visits in September from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Herald-News

- ➤ Will County Health Department launches the Milk Circle breastfeeding support group at its Joliet office and will hold a kick-off meeting on Aug. 5—featuring refreshments, door prizes and Spanish translation—with regular meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month starting on Aug. 19.
