  • On Thursday at the Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce office, Kim Wisenhunt held a ribbon cutting to launch Blue Heron Bagels—a home-based business in Shorewood that crafts gourmet sourdough bagels by boiling and baking them to create their unique taste while donating much of the proceeds to the community.  Herald-News

CRIME NEWS

  • Romeoville twins Jermon and Jimmy Myers were granted pretrial release in a Joliet robbery case after a judge found no probable cause for Jermon; Jimmy must avoid the victim, carry no weapons, comply with electronic monitoring, and remain home during evenings and early mornings—both are set to appear in court on July 24.  Herald-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Illinois Department of Transportation warned Plainfield residents today about scam texts and emails falsely claiming money is owed for traffic tickets, tolls, or fines. Officials said the messages use unofficial emails and phone numbers and urged anyone who receives one to report it to the Federal Trade Commission or FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center — aiming to stop further scams.  Herald-News
