  • ➤ A 17-year-old boy was shot several times at Settler’s Park in Plainfield and is in stable condition after officers responded at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday — preliminary findings suggest it was a targeted incident with no further threat to the public.  Herald-News

  • ➤ Joliet will shut down the Black Road-Ruby Street connection at Six Corners today for a week to repair the Plainfield Road water main—drivers should use alternate routes as one lane remains open on Plainfield Road and Raynor Avenue.  Herald-News

  • ➤ Backyard dangers include poison ivy, stinging bees and wasps, ticks that spread disease, toxic mushrooms and berries, and coyotes that may threaten pets.
