CRIME NEWS

  • Eric Strasser, 62, of Lockport is charged with first-degree murder for the killing of his wife on May 1st, 2024 and will remain in jail as he awaits trial — a judge ruled he poses a community threat after he tried to cover up the crime.  Herald-News
  • Jonathan Britton, a 32-year-old Chicago man wounded in a shooting at Riverwalk Homes in Joliet on June 12, was charged with firing a gun during the incident and released from hospital—a 30-year-old suspect remains under police guard.  Herald-News

  • Plainfield is asking residents to serve on its police commission, a volunteer post with a two-year term that includes training and a background check + interested applicants must send their letter of interest and resume by July 1 to the Village Clerk.  Shaw Local
