- ➤ IDOT announced that the Ruby Street bridge in Joliet will close for two months starting July 1 for upgrades including new control systems, motors, and cables. Drivers will face detours and extra travel time as the closure depends on weather and the reopening of the Jefferson Street bridge in late June — officials say no bridges will be closed at the same time. - ➤ The Department of Labor paused contractor-run Job Corps centers with a plan to close the Joliet center by June 30 — a move that would affect 135 students who live on campus and staff — based on concerns over low graduation rates. A federal judge then issued a restraining order that now stops the planned closure after a lawsuit challenged the agency’s authority. Herald-News
