Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant said residents can comment on the 25-year Our Way Forward transportation plan until June 20—this draft includes 48 roadway projects for safer streets and better transit—and final changes will be made after the feedback is reviewed.
At a public hearing in Joliet Monday night, residents and industry representatives opposed Nicor Gas’s proposed record $316 million rate hike, arguing that the Illinois Commerce Commission's short notice left little time for review and that much of the extra funds were destined for profits and executive bonuses—critics say this plan does not serve public interests. Nicor officials said the higher rate will help maintain reliable gas service during severe weather.
