- ➤ Repairs to the Lockport Street bridge over the DuPage River begin today, weather permitting, and will fix the deck and approaches while replacing expansion joints, adding a new deck overlay and guardrail, and reducing IL Route 126 to one eastbound lane. Westbound traffic will detour via Route 59, U.S. 30 — 143rd Street and Wallin Drive, and work is expected to finish by October. Shaw Local
- ➤ The Illinois Commerce Commission will hold a public hearing Monday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park Indoor Theatre (201 W. Jefferson St.) in Joliet to gather public testimony on Nicor's proposed $308.6 million natural gas rate hike. The proposal, estimated to add about $7.50 to the average Chicago-area customer’s monthly bill, will be reviewed along with written comments before a final decision in November. Herald-News
