- ➤ At its May 21 board meeting, Troy Community Consolidated School District 30-C recognized April Students of the Month from William B. Orenic and Troy Middle Schools for their consistent effort, good citizenship and active class participation—honoring sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders for their positive approach in class. - ➤ Yesterday, at the IHSA state meet at Eastern Illinois University on May 31, Lockport’s Nolan Lamoureux won the Class 3A 800 with a powerful kick—his season-best effort—while Plainfield East’s Joe Owusu anchored relays to strong finishes. - ➤ Providence Catholic pitcher Macie Robbins, who turned 15 on Friday, struck out nine batters and allowed only one run as her team won 2-1 against Marian Catholic in the regional championship on Saturday. The victory sent the Celtics to the Ottawa Sectional semifinals and they will face Tinley Park on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.—the team said they need more offense to ease pressure on their pitchers.
