- ➤ Fifth graders at Charles Reed Elementary School in District 202 audited food waste during lunch in April and found over 100 pounds of food and 150 pounds of milk wasted. They plan to work with school officials and the food provider to find a composting solution. Shaw Local
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Will County Forest Preserve District announced free nature programs for week of June 1, featuring a Bug Blitz at Hidden Oaks (June 3–28), a bird hike at Plum Creek on June 4, bird viewing in Plainfield, and a trail safety session in New Lenox on June 6—registration needed for some. Herald-News
