Good morning, Plainfield.

Will County seeks quick-take authority to acquire land for the 143rd Street expansion in Homer Township so construction can start in 2026 to secure $7 million in federal funds.

Some county board members are trying to delay the process and push for a reduced scope by focusing on intersection improvements—seeking a compromise with local leaders.

At the 3A state track preliminaries, Bolingbrook’s Bruce Duncan III won the 400 meters in 47.87 seconds and Plainfield East’s Joe Owusu qualified in the 100 meters for today’s finals—Lockport, Lincoln-Way, and other local teams also advanced in various events while regional titles in softball, soccer, tennis and lacrosse set the stage for more competition.
