GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • IDOT announced that several construction lane closures in Will County will remain in force over Memorial Day weekend while some lanes reopen to ease travel. Drivers on Moen Avenue in Rockdale, Sioux/Dove Drive in Channahon, I-80 in Joliet and other areas should allow extra time for delays—detours are posted where available.  Herald-News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Plainfield North relays did very well at IHSA State girls track and field prelims; their 4x200 finished first, their 4x400 came in second, and both the 4x100 and 4x800 relays placed in the top three – runners Marlie Czarniewski and Taylor McClain also advanced in their events. The team will compete in the finals later today.  Herald-News
  • At the IHSA State Meet, Wilmington’s McKenna Van Tilburg qualified for finals in three track events—she finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles, sixth in the 100, and seventh in the 100 hurdles, with her 200 time noted as well. Other teams earned wins in baseball, softball, volleyball, lacrosse, and water polo as Coal City, Peotone, Plainfield Central, Lockport, and others secured regional and conference victories.  Herald-News
