  • Community pools in the area open for summer fun. Plainfield Park District’s Ottawa Street Pool starts Saturday with set hours, while Bolingbrook’s Pelican Harbor opens Saturday morning and Lockport Township and New Lenox facilities open May 30 with varied schedules and admission rates.  Shaw Local

ECONOMY NEWS

  • ComEd said rising energy demand, including from data centers, will push average monthly bills from $107 to over $120 starting in June as a temporary credit is reduced, and the company will offer expanded bill-assistance & energy efficiency programs.  Shaw Local

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Adam Hurder, a leader from Valley View, was named principal of Traughber Junior High in Oswego and will begin his role on July 1 — the school board approved his $145,000 base salary on May 11.  Herald-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Will County Board approved a 6,100 acre solar project by Earthrise Energy covering 96 properties in Manhattan, Green Garden and Wilton Townships with a 12+8 vote. The company will start building the largest solar farm planned in the county in early 2027.  Herald-News
