  • Plainfield baker Steve Buresh closed his Cosmic Bakehouse on April 25 due to rising food and fuel costs and announced his Cheesecake Store will remain open until May 21 for gift card use before closing permanently. He plans to help local young bakers secure equipment — a new community effort.  Herald-News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On April 21, District 202 and the Plainfield Police Department hosted a training session at Plainfield High School — Central Campus to educate neurodivergent drivers on handling traffic stops safely. The event introduced the Blue Envelope program to improve interactions during stops.  Herald-News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Plainfield officials remind residents to follow new e-bike and e-scooter rules—riders must meet age limits of 14 for Class 1 and 2, 16 for Class 3, and 18 for scooters, ride only in approved areas, wear helmets if under 18, and face fines up to $500 for violations.  Shaw Local
