- ➤ Catholic leaders in Joliet and Rockford dioceses expressed deep sorrow after Pope Francis died early Monday morning. They praised his service to the poor and said the Church will soon begin selecting his successor—cardinals will meet at the Vatican to start the process. Herald-News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Plainfield Police Department is hosting a DEA take-back event on Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Plainfield Police Law Enforcement Center (14300 S. Coil Plus Drive) where patients and their families may dispose of unwanted medications including controlled, noncontrolled, and over-the-counter types, though pharmacies, hospitals, and physicians cannot use the service and needles or illegal drugs will not be accepted.
