GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Will County Board approved a special permit for a quarry expansion in Wheatland Township after a nearly six-hour meeting where over 40 residents voiced strong safety concerns — Plainfield and other local officials filed objections as community members worried about the site's proximity to schools. • Gov. JB Pritzker spoke Thursday in Romeoville alongside Rep. Lauren Underwood and local advocates to condemn proposed cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, saying the changes would risk the well-being of seniors and disabled residents.
