Good morning, Plainfield.
🌲 Environment
Forecasters warned that northern Illinois, including Plainfield's vicinity, faced a moderate risk for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes Tuesday afternoon and evening with large hail and damaging winds while a flash flood watch was in effect until 3 a.m. Wednesday, prompting residents to monitor weather updates closely.
🏛️ Government
Illinois lawmakers and environmental advocates propose Senate Bill 2401 (the wetlands protection measure) to give the Department of Natural Resources authority over private wetland permitting as federal EPA rule changes could leave 707,566 acres of state wetlands unprotected.
The bill's future hinges on budget resources and potential governor support.
