  • Hope United Methodist Church in Joliet hosts its 110th chicken noodle dinner today from 4 to 7 p.m. at 2506 Caton Farm Road, raising funds for Bags of Hope which supports local students. Tickets cost $15 for adults + $8 for children ages 5 to 10.  Herald-News
  • The newspaper has updated its layout to add more local reporting on health, education and public safety and will expand its national coverage while celebrating its 175th anniversary — connecting new columns and features to everyday community life.  Shaw Local

CRIME NEWS

  • The nonprofit Big Brothers Big Sisters resumed volunteer programs after former CEO Ted Brodeur pleaded guilty on Tuesday to felony theft and agreed to pay $40,000 in restitution (after already paying $20,000) while the board focused on overcoming his failures.  Herald-News
