- ➤ Plainfield’s Itzel Huerta was crowned Miss Eco Teen International 2025 on Oct. 18 in Egypt and now serves as a UN youth ambassador for sustainability. She will host environmental events every 45 days at local schools and libraries to teach about reducing plastic use. Herald-News
- ➤ HBO is filming the new police series American Blue in Joliet + the mayor said it will boost positive attention to the local police department as native producer Brian Udovich helps bring the hometown story to life. Herald-News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Bonnie McBeth Learning Center in Plainfield is accepting in-person preschool registration for School District 202's 2026-27 school year. Open registration is set for Feb. 26 (3:30 to 7 p.m.) and Feb. 27 (8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.), with continued sign-ups from Mar. 2 and a $100 deposit required. Herald-News
